Did bomber Ayers help pen Obama's memoir?
 
Author Jack Cashill first pointed, last year, to evidence that unrepentant terrorist William Ayers had a hand in writing Obama's memoir, Dreams From My Father.
 
Then the author of Barack and Michelle: Portrait of an American Marriage, Christopher Andersen, is reported to have confirmed that he had two sources pointing to leftist Ayers' involvement in Obama's book.
 
Now America-hating Ayers himself has flat out stated he "wrote Dreams From My Father," according to a blogger who encountered him at Reagan National Airport.

A complete transcript with detailed analysis of the descent and landing of the Lunar Module Eagle on Apollo 11 is here (click on "Journal" in the "Apollo 11 Sub-Menu" on the left, then scroll down to "The Journal" on the main section of the page, and click on "The First Lunar Landing.")  Also, the video out of Aldrin's window of the descent, with LM to ground audio, and craters identified along the way, can be found shortly after the 102:42:05 point in the transcript.  Note the use of the 40th anniversary logo at the beginning of the video.

The liftoff and powered ascent of the Lunar Module Eagle's ascent stage can be viewed here.  First let the video load, and then move it to the 44:53 mark which is the moment of liftoff (no audio).  Liftoff was at 12:54:01 p.m. CDT, July 21, 1969. It can be synchronized with audio from here or here.

Apollo 11 Tranquility Base Landing Site

Here is an excellent view of the Tranquility Base landing site by the Lunar Reconnaisance Orbiter.  The descent stage and its shadow can be seen.  To its left is Double Crater and to its right is Little West Crater (sometimes called East Crater.)   The large crater in the lower right is West Crater.  The Eagle flew just north of West Crater.  Here is another site detailing those three craters.
 
This site also includes a map of the area of that first moonwalk.  An even more detailed map is here.

A great video which begins 3 minutes and 50 seconds before landing (starts at 3:13:50 CDT) has the audio of landing and the video out the window along with a map showing craters during the approach to landing. It can be found here, by going to the WMV video clip above the blue Rene and Jonathan Cantin.

Apollo 11: 40th Anniversary of the First Manned Lunar Landing

Today, July 20, 2009, is the 40th anniversary of man's first landing and walk on the moon.  The landing was at 3:17:40 p.m. CDT and the audio and video (out of one of the LM's windows) can be heard and viewed here which starts 8 minutes and 50 seconds before landing (video starts at 3:08:50 p.m. CDT.)  This Boston Globe site has some great photos from Apollo 11.  Even more resources can be found at this MSNBC site.

Apollo 11 40th Anniversary Rebroadcasts

July 16-24, 2009 marks the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11, which achieved the first manned landing on the moon.  There will be both video rebroadcast and audio rebroadcast done exactly 40 years to the second after the event.
